General situation and character of Keelung City |
| |
| In the early period, Keelung was under the jurisdiction of Taipei Prefecture. Located in northern Taiwan, Keelung is surrounded by mountains on three sides and borders Taipei County. It neighbors Rueifang Town in the east, Sijhih City in the west, Wanli Township in the southwest, Pingsi Township in the south, and the ocean in the north. Over 95% of the city is hilly, and it has been an excellent deep-water valley port since ancient times. At present, there are 7 administrative districts in the unsophisticated city, and most locals are dockyard workers, sailors, and fishermen, and merchants and public functionaries are the second largest population. According to the organization and staff regulations for local county and city police bureaus in Taiwan, KCPB was founded in January 1946. At present, KCPB has 7 divisions, 7 offices, 2 centers, and 5 brigades (corps). Also, there are 4 police precincts and 23 sub-stations established according to local administrative districts. |
