Keelung City is renowned for Keelung Harbor, one of the four major commercial ports in Taiwan. With more than 130 years’ development and its strategic importance, Keelung Harbor has become a thriving international port with an important marine base. The picturesque mountains and stunning coasts draw not only domestic tourists but also foreign visitors. Miaokou Night Market, Jhengbin Fishery Harbor, Badouzih Fishery Harbor, Waimushan Beach Park, and the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology are the most popular destinations. The famous Keelung Ocean Eagle Carnival and Ghost Festival show the vitality and cultural heritage of the city.
The Keelung City Police Bureau is under the charge of the Keelung City Government and is in charge of policing affairs within Keelung City. It is composed of the Administrative Section, Public Order Section, Training Section, Foreign Affairs Section, Logistics Section, Public Security Section, Crime Prevention Section, Forensic Science Section, Internal Affairs Section, Public Relations Section, Secretariat, Information Management Section, and Legal Affairs Section. In addition, it has the Accounting Office, Personnel Office, Civil Service Ethics Office, Duty Command Center, and the Civil Defense Operation Center. There are also Criminal Investigation Corps, Special Police Brigade, the Traffic Police Brigade, Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Brigade, Women, and Children Protection Brigade for its field operation. Altogether there are 4 precincts and 23 police stations under its command.
